From Beeswax to Candle: How Our Candles Are Made

Before a HiveGlow candle reaches your home, it passes through a series of small, careful steps.

There are no shortcuts that turn raw beeswax instantly into a finished candle.

It takes preparation, heat, time, patience, and human hands.

Step 1: Starting with Pure Beeswax

Everything begins with the material.

We use 100% pure beeswax, allowing its natural color, texture, and subtle aroma to remain part of the finished candle.

Because beeswax comes from nature, each batch can carry slightly different characteristics.

Step 2: Preparing the Wax

The beeswax is carefully melted until it reaches the right working state.

Temperature matters.

Too cool and the wax may not flow properly into detailed forms. Too much unnecessary heat can affect the way natural wax behaves.

Working with beeswax means learning to respect its rhythm rather than forcing it.

Step 3: Preparing the Wick and Mold

Before pouring, the wick must be positioned carefully.

For molded candles, alignment is particularly important because the wick needs to run appropriately through the body of the finished candle.

The mold is prepared and checked before the wax is poured.

Step 4: Pouring

Warm beeswax is slowly poured into the prepared mold.

For highly detailed designs, the wax needs to reach small textures and contours that will eventually become part of the finished surface.

Then comes one of the most important ingredients:

time.

Step 5: Cooling Naturally

The candle needs to cool and solidify.

As natural beeswax changes from liquid to solid, slight contraction and surface variation can occur.

This is part of working with the material.

We do not expect handcrafted candles to emerge like identical pieces of plastic.

Step 6: Unmolding and Hand Finishing

Once ready, the candle is carefully removed from its mold.

Edges are inspected.

The wick is finished.

Small surface details may be cleaned by hand.

Each candle is checked before it moves on.

Step 7: Ready for Its First Flame

At this point, the transformation is complete.

Wax once created inside a beehive has passed through the hands of a maker and become an object designed to bring light into another home.

That journey is what makes handmade beeswax candles meaningful to us.
