How to Store Beeswax Candles

Protect your beeswax candles from heat, sunlight, dust, and pressure with a few simple storage habits that help preserve their natural beauty.

A beeswax candle can remain beautiful for a long time when stored with a little care.

Whether you are putting away seasonal candles or simply keeping a few favorites for later, the environment matters.

Keep Candles Away from Excessive Heat

Beeswax softens when exposed to sufficient heat.

Avoid storing candles beside radiators, heating vents, fireplaces, or other sources of high temperature.

A hot car or storage space exposed to intense summer heat can also cause candles to soften or lose their shape.

Avoid Long Periods of Direct Sunlight

Strong sunlight can warm the candle and may influence its appearance over time.

A cool, dry cupboard, drawer, or storage box is generally a better choice.

Protect Detailed Surfaces

Sculptural beeswax candles can contain delicate petals, honeycomb textures, leaves, bees, or other small details.

Avoid placing heavy objects directly on top of them.

Wrapping the candle gently in clean, suitable paper can help protect the surface from dust and rubbing during storage.

Store Upright When Appropriate

Tall pillars and taper candles are best stored in a way that minimizes pressure that could gradually bend or damage them.

Make sure they are supported and not compressed beneath heavier objects.

Don't Worry About Natural Bloom

After storage, you may notice a pale film developing on the surface.

This may simply be natural beeswax bloom.

It can usually be gently polished if you prefer a smoother appearance.

Bring It Back Into the Light

When you are ready to use the candle again, remove its wrapping, inspect the wick, place it safely, and allow it to return to room temperature if it has been stored somewhere cool.

Then light it.

A candle can wait quietly for months.

Its purpose begins again the moment the flame returns.
